  1. Haha that was awesome! I saw all the vid and learned a lot!!
Greetings from argentina and congratulation for the game all of you made
However I cant play it (my graphic card Ati Radeon 9200 Pro and my Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz -single core- makes impossible to play it fluently) Hope you made a lo-poly lo-texture version of the game for people like me :-)
    Bye!

  2. Wow.. that’s awesome man. Well done. It looks like the HLSL water shader from OGRE….

  3. in the game, the water is transparent. Do you just set transparency in the materials tab?

  4. What a great videotutorial! thank you :)

  7. What did he do at 3:28 to 3:30 ?, he made a very fast movement :(

  8. He pressed Ctrl+z (undo peration) and repeated different clouds operation.

  9. this tutorial was extremely helpful thank you guys!

  10. Great stuff!

I’ve found the following script for GIMP
    http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=131827

It tiles for the animation map automatically. You just have to flip Vertically once it’s done (run it at 10 * 10 ).

  11. great!
    really useful. =]

  12. Hi! I need some help…
When I click in nor and turn off col it doesn’t make anything…
    Can anyone help me?

I’m portuguese, so, sorry my bad english… :P

    I can’t see the video.

  14. can this tequnique be used for things like fire and other animated sprites

  15. On the part you put all the images into one, that was pointless to zoom in and make sure there was no space on each frame. Just go to image, configure grid, make it 256 x 256, then view, snap to grid, show grid, and there is no space at all. It took me about 3 minutes to do that part O.o.

  16. With Photoshop CS(1,2,3,4) or Bridge, try using Contact Sheet, browse for all rendered images, set the Columns and Rows to 10×10 without any padding, and hit start. Go make some coffee or smoke a cigarette, when you return it will have placed the images into a 10×10 grid without any padding for you. Laziness ftw.

this tutorial is awesome only it doesn’t work for me.
My graphics card cand handle GLSL… I think it will work on my new computer though

  19. Hey I have a question. The mirror effect, when you put a image onto the water, was pretty neat..but how do you make it reflect other objects around it, like the ground, trees, mountains, or sky? I’ve been playing with it and cant figure out how to make it reflect the objects near it.

  20. first i thought this is lame…but as soon as i watch the gameplay and this video about raltime water i’m amazed….Great job!! I’ve learn a lot from this vid…

  21. Meli-Melo says:

Do you have a written version of this tutorial, please?
I must admit i dislike video tutorials, it is quite slow and we can miss the information.

    Thank you.

  22. I have another question. You had us enable tiling when we were setting the real time properties, but I cant figure out how to actually tile the thing..I tried subdiving it and that didnt work, making it bigger doesnt work, and I’m about to try to have it subdivided before I do all this but I have a feeling that wont work either..do I have to actually manually go in and copypaste every tile? that sounds kinda ridiculous, it’d be almost impossible to get them all straight if I have to do that..

    Please help lol.

  23. Hey, whenever I do this, on the animated plane, it will play maybe 20 frames or so and skip back to the start, I have never got the animation thing to work with my Blender, it’s always had problems, could someone please help?

  24. I completed this tutorial three times and have gotten some good results. My water animates just like in the video but I must have missed something. What do I do with it after I make it? How do I save or export it so that I can use it as a texture in another .blend file? I have not figured out how to use this water yet, please explain.

  25. Really nice stuff! Thanks for the tut!

  26. Just wanted to throw in a quick note on how to speed up the Gimp part. Instead of carefully aligning the images yourself, set Gimp’s grid to the same size as the individual images and set snap to grid on. This will allow you to just drop the image close to where you want it and it will snap into place.
